STAY WITH US

Learn and relax in our unique environment

Set in the heart of Devon, Coombeshead offers nature breaks with a difference. Coombeshead is wild, our animals roam free in our 300 acre rewilding area, why not come and see them in their natural environment, and learn about our work to reintroduce lost species to the UK. Situated in the heart of Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor with all its attractions, and just 30 minutes from the surfing beaches, Coombeshead offers a chance to reconnect to nature in a truly beautiful location.

You can stay in one of our beautiful shepherds’ huts or camp in our meadow. We offer a range of activities such as our ecologist lead guided rewilding walks, where you will see at least some of our habitat creators such as the beaver, wild pigs, ponies, mouflon and water buffalo. Or our complimentary animal encounter activity will introduce you to species being bred for reintroduction such as white storks, wild cats, beavers, water voles and harvest mice, and learn about their vital roles in our natural environment.

In the evening relax round the fire, view our free roaming animals from dedicated viewing platforms or take part in organised beaver watching or nature nights.

If you’re lucky you may see one of the barn owls, which have returned to feed at Coombeshead, hovering over grassland in the early evening.

Our customised shepherd huts provide a beautiful and cosy base for your stay with us. Each shepherd hut contains a double bed (bedding and towels provided) and has a built-in log burner.  Each shepherd’s hut has its own basic kitchen attached (sorry no fridge), and nearby shared gas heated showers and composting eco toilets.

Our guests can share a communal area with barbecue fires and pizza oven, or eat in one of the nearby pubs.
