Meet the UK’s leading rewilding breeder
In this Wilding Earth episode, we visit Rewilding Coombeshead in Devon, home to Keep It Wild and The Species Recovery Centre, which breeds and supplies animals for many of the UK’s leading rewilding and nature recovery projects. Coombeshead is home to remarkable species like Beavers, Wildcats, Black Grouse, White Storks, Water Voles, Cranes, and Turtle Doves. They also breed and provide these species, including beavers, to other rewilding locations across the country. In part one, I meet nick viney, co-founder of Keep It Wild, to explore how beavers are regenerating the land and contributing to rewilding efforts nationwide. These “ecosystem engineers” are transforming wetlands, crucial for flood management, biodiversity and carbon storage.
